The wall of the pool
It would be a mistake to tie your identity to one event, but some moments do change how you see the world.
When I was about six months old, I fell into a pool and was found about five minutes later. I survived by pushing off the bottom to breathe. For years, the wall of that pool was the only thing I dreamed about.
Later, I grew up extremely active and found my way into sports: swimming, skiing, riding, and combat sports.
